Call For Nominations: mater mea Phenomenal Women 2016
Words: mater mea
Nominate and put some shine on a phenomenal Black woman doing incredible things!
Take a look around you—on your newsfeed, during your commute, in the mirror: There are amazing Black women everywhere doing incredible things. Whether we’re making a difference in our local communities or becoming a “the first Black woman to” in a world that still has many more racial barriers in need of tearing down, these accomplishments are happening around the world—and they need to be recognized.
mater mea is launching its first annual Phenomenal Women awards, dedicated to shining a spotlight on Black women who embody the “I got this” spirit that was described in Dr. Maya Angelou’s poem of the same name. And while we have a few women we admire that we’d like to celebrate, we want you to help us come up with the ladies who will make up our inaugural first class.
These nominees don’t have to be mothers, celebrities, or Internet famous—and there’s nothing wrong with nominating yourself—but they do have to be the following:
a person who has a tremendous impact on their community through their talent, mentorship, or philanthropy;
a person who fosters a sense of community and support, rather than divisiveness and hate;
a Black woman
You can fill out the form below, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with “Phenomenal Women Nomination” in the subject title, or tweet us using the hashtag #phenomenalwomen to send in your nomination.
Nominations close March 11, 11:59 p.m.
